May I adopt you?

Ein kleiner Junge hält die Hand eines Erwachsenen

Who complains about abortion in Christian circles, is swimming in the flow of common consent. However, spiritual babies dying straight after their birth, is part of daily church life.

Many make a decision for Jesus in evangelism when they are touched with loving words – unfortunately often intimidated by brimstone and fire. The spiritual rebirth begins with faith in Jesus and hopefully with the repentance over past mistakes, as well.

A spiritual baby is born. Now this baby should be included and brought up in a loving and caring family. But very often it seems that he or she comes in a factory where only the numbers of the converted people should increase; the person itself is not important. Therefore, very soon these people feel disappointed. The term “backdoor evangelism” is well known; it means: Entered the church through the front door, and discreetly slipped out again trough the back door. ((An interesting article on this was written by Win und Charles Arn: “Closing The Evangelistic Backdoor“ ))

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. (Joh 1:12-13)

Newborn spiritual babies must be included in a family, in a network of good relationships. And that’s exactly how the church should be! It needs experienced believers who take the new-born-again people by their hand. Even if the question “May I adopt you?” will probably be never pronounced, it puts it in a nutshell. Are you ready to invest your time in this precious task and to ask that question?
